Funeral service for the late Raymond Clayton ‘Ray’ Archibald, 85, Denver, Guysborough County, was held March 11 in Kirk Memorial United Church, Aspen, with Debbie Stewart and Reverend Derek Elsworth officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Aspen. Mr. Archibald died March 7, 2019, in High Crest Sherbrooke Nursing Home. Born in Denver, he was a son of the late Fisher and Bessie (Fenton) Archibald. He was a woodsman and partner in the family sawmill, F. Archibald and Sons. He was an active member of Glenelg Presbyterian Church, where he was organist and treasurer for many years. He was in the first graduating class of St. Mary’s High School, went to Mount Allison University and later to Dalhousie University where he received a degree in Civil Engineering. He enjoyed woodworking and made many items for family and churches throughout the area. He is survived by brother, Eldon (Olive) Archibald, Denver; two sisters-in-law, Muriel Archibald, Marilyn Archibald; three brothers-in-law, Eldon Taylor, Russell Porter, James MacKay; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews,great-great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 11 siblings, Joseph (Margaret) Archibald, Clarence (Joyce) Archibald, Vera (Stirling) Taylor, Frank Archibald, Isabel Porter, Hazel (Stewart) Gunn, Robert (Ethel) Archibald, Muriel Taylor, John, in infancy; Ruth Mackay, Harold Archibald.
