ROBERT BORDEN MACMILLAN

Robert Borden Macmillan

Funeral service for the late Robert Borden ‘Robbie’ MacMillan, 73, Inverness, was held July 16 in St. Matthews United Church, Inverness, with Pastor Maggie Plant officiating. Burial was in St John’s United Cemetery, Strathlorne.

Mr. MacMillan died July 10, 2019, at Inverary Manor.

He worked in his early years in the mines in Ontario, until he returned to his roots in Cape Breton. He worked for MacInnis Irving for  more than 40 years, until his illness forced him to retire. He always enjoyed a good Scottish tune by his favorites, such as Ashley MacIssac and the late Buddy MacMaster.  He will be fondly remembered by his family and friends for his jokes, stories and classic one-liners. There were many a car and a boat in town that Robbie maintained, also known for his undercoating and fine work on carburetors and radiators.

He is survived wife of 54 years,  Ruby Spears; son, Eddie (Cindy); two daughters, Jeannie, Lisa; seven grandchildren, Vanessa (Blaze), Colton (Keisha), Lakyon (Evan John), Axyle (Brooklyn), Harley, Dakota, Saylor; four great-grandchildren, Jerzee, Jazmyn, Jaylah, Tiana.

He was predeceased by his parents, Eddie (Doc) and Jessie; two brothers, Charlie, John.

Memorial donations may be made to Central Palliative Care Society, or a charity of choice.
