ROBERT WILLIAM DEYOUNG

Funeral service for the late Robert William DeYoung, 60, Antigonish, was held October 28 in Ste Croix Church, Pomquet, Antigonish County with Father Andrew Gillies officiating, assisted by Deacon Art Riley. Burial will be held at a later date.     

Mr. DeYoung died October 23, 2019.     

Readers at the funeral Mass were Kai-Lee Walsh and Logan DeYoung. Music was provided by Tyrus Wallace.     

Pallbearers were Greg DeYoung, Evan DeCoste, Leonard DeYoung, Pierre Bowman, Glen DeYoung and Shawn Doyle.     

Born May 22, 1959, in Antigonish, he was a son of Annie (Delorey) DeYoung and the late Joseph T. DeYoung. He worked as a carpet installer in Antigonish for many years, beginning at the age of 16.     

Besides his mother, he is survived by eight sisters, Brenda (Jackie) Bowman, Pomquet; Bernadette (Kevin) Bowman, Merland; Linda (Allan) Currie, Pomquet; Margaret Ann (Eddie) DeCoste, Monastery; Annette (Martin) Machielsen, Antigonish; Shirley (Jody) Baker, St. Andrews; Vicki DeYoung (Sandy MacFarlane), Keppoch; Donelda (Markus) Schorch, Germany; five brothers, Thomas, Greg (Kai-Lee), both of Antigonish; Leonard (Cathy), Tracadie; Glen (Kristen), North Grant; Paul, Pomquet; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.     

He was predeceased by brother, Wayne; nephew, Jeremy.     

Memorial donations may be made to St. Martha’s Regional Hospital Foundation, (Mental Health Unit), Antigonish.
