Rose Delima ‘Lena’ Weissent
Funeral service for the late Rose Delima ‘Lena’ Weissent, 97, Halifax, formerly of Little Anse, was held January 24 in St. Joseph’s Church, Petit de Grat, with Father Conrad Edwards officiating. Burial will take place in Star of the Sea Cemetery, Petit de Grat, at a later date. Mrs. Weissent died January 17, 2019, at home. Born in Little Anse, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Josephine (Boudreau) Samson. She had many jobs, owned and operated her own business, but was most proud of her work as a nurse’s aid in the children’s ward, at the hospital in Guelph, Ontario. She enjoyed playing board games, bingo and cards. She spent many hours knitting, watching her favourite soap operas and made-for-tv movies. She is survived by two daughters, Debbie Weissent, Halifax; Donna (Kevin) Olsen, Middle Sackville; two grandchildren, Cameron Olsen, Zachary Weissent (Andrea); great-grandson, Gavin; brother, Rudolph (Virginia) Samson, Louisdale; two sisters, Betty Tandy, Dartmouth; Dorothy Morrison, Arichat; three sisters-in-law, Liz Samson, Petit de Grat; Denise Samson, Guelph, Ontario; Margaret Samson, Cape Auget; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Harold Weissent; five brothers, Henry Samson, Oswald Samson, William Samson, Lawrence Samson, George Samson; three sisters, Alma Boudreau, Lorraine Forster, Bernadette Clannon. Memorial donations may be made to continuing care facilities such as Arborstone Enhanced Care Facility, Halifax, St. Anne Centre, Arichat, or a charity of choice.
