Funeral service for the late Rosemary Marshall, 65, Potlotek, was held December 19 in St. Peter’s Catholic Church, St. Peter’s, with Father Antolin Asor officiating. Burial was in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Barra Head. Ms. Marshall died December 13, 2018, at home. Born November 24, 1953, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Alexander and Pauline Marie (Battiste) Marshall (of Potlotek). She was a Mi’Kmaw Kina’matnewey language advisor and a language mentor in the Mentor for Apprentice Project at Mi’Kmaw Kina’matnewey. She was employed as a Mi’kmaw linquist at the Potlotek education office. She was a recorded voice on firstvoices.ca. Devoting her career to language revitalization, she worked on many projects that promoted documented language and worked at the Potlotek First Nations for 42 years. She was very strong in her faith and became a community prayer leader in Potlotek. She is survived by two daughters, Pauline Marshall (Tyson), Nora Mae Marshall; two sons, Aaron, special son, Will; two grandchildren, Jacen Brady and Coby John, all of Potlotek; three brothers, Alexander (Margie), Maynard (Jeannette), Lindsay (Florence), all of Potlotek; three sisters, Nora Bernard, Eskasoni; Bernadette Marshall, Sharon Marshall, both of Polotek; god mother, Agnes ‘Aggie’; uncle ,Valerian Marshall ‘Smokey’; three godchildren, Justin, Tena, Aysa, all of Potlotek; step children; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by four brothers, Clifford, Gary ‘Koli’, Stephen ‘Stevo’, Russell; two sisters, Norbertta, Elizabeth; godson, Alexander ‘Kwis’. Online condolences: www.chboudreau.com
