ROSINA MARIE VAN ROSSUM
A celebration of life for the late Rosina Marie ‘Rose’ van Rossum, 65, Calgary, Alberta, will be held in February.
Ms. van Rossum died December 17, 2019, at home.
Born November 25, 1954, in Antigonish, she was a daughter of the late Dick and Elizabeth van Rossum, who were Dutch immigrants. She and her twin brother were the eldest of eight siblings. At the age of 18, she moved to various parts of Canada, settling in Calgary in 1979. She excelled with numbers, which led to a career of more than 30 years in the banking industry. She had a special connection with the elderly and found community at the Royal Canadian Legion, where she was passionate about veterans and volunteered for the Poppy Fund Drive. She enjoyed music, reading, animals, her chow ‘Sampson’, camping in Drumheller and spending time with good friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa, Calgary; long-time partner, Al; five brothers, her twin, John (Brenda), Bible Hill; Phonse (Debbie), Clem (Donna), both of Antigonish; Jim (Audrey), Addington Forks; Neil, St. Andrews, Antigonish County; two sisters, Monique, Calgary; Marlie, St. Andrews; numerous nieces and nephews; two former sisters-in-law, Bernadette, Kim; her daughter’s father, Maurice.
