Sadie Kennedy

Funeral service for the late Sadie Kennedy, 103, Antigonish, formerly of Lakevale, was held November 26 in St. Columba Church, Lakevale, with Father Andrew Boyd officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Mrs. Kennedy died November 21, 2019, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish.

Readers at the funeral Mass were Allison Kennedy and Sarah Deveau. Cassie Deveau, Winston Deveau and George Allan Deveau presented the offertory gifts. Music was provided by Ty Wallace, Rhonda Kennedy and Sarah Deveau.

Pallbearers were Robert Kennedy, Ian Kennedy, Hank Middleton, Carl Boyd, Duncan MacDonald and Colin MacGillivray.

Born in North Lakevale, she was a daughter of the late John J. and Isabel (Forbes) MacGillivray. She was a woman of strong faith, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In her early years, she was very active in Lakevale community activities. She was most recently a resident of Whidden's Park.

She is survived by three children, Allan (Judy), Truro; Colin (Diane), Antigonish; Marian, Halifax; six grandchildren, Sarah (Joey) Deveau, Allison (Michael), Rhonda, Robert, Matthew (Jana), Ian (Christie); six great-grandchildren, Cassie, Winston, George Allan and Hazel Deveau; Lucas and Evan Kennedy; sister, Helen Toth; brother, Forbes (Chris) MacGillivary.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald; daughter, Katherine Kennedy; four sisters, Anne Roach, Kathleen MacDonald, Florence Grant, Mary; three brothers, John A., Roderick, Colin.

Memorial donations made be made to a charity of choice.
