SARAH RITA MARY KELLY
Funeral service for the late Kelly, 81, formerly of Glencoe, Guysborough County, was held October 10 in St. Ninian’s Cathedral, Antigonish, with Father Donald MacGillivray officiating. Burial was in St. Thomas Cemetery, Salmon River.
Mrs. Kelly died October 5, 2019, in the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home.
Readers at the funeral Mass were Hannah Kelly and Brittany Phinney. Valerie and Tanner Coady presented the offertory gifts. Music was provided by Emery Van de Wiel.
Pallbearers were George Kelly, Francis Kelly, William Kelly, Clarence Kelly, Michael Kelly and Matthew Bayne.
Born in Glencoe she was a daughter of the late Gregory and Matilda (Burns) MacEachern. She raised 14 children and enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. She was a woman of strong faith.
She is survived by six daughters, Donalda, Mary Phinney (Lee), both of Antigonish; Irene Tetley (James), Dryden, Ontario; Clara Snell (Gordon), Roachville; Bridget, Newfoundland; Sarah Rose, Port Hawkesbury; six sons, Francis (Pearl), New Glasgow; George, Glencoe; William (Karen), Moncton; Michael, Halifax; Douglas, Clarence (Jennifer), both of Antigonish; 40 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; three sisters, Theresa Zellers (Dave), PA; Margaret, New Glasgow; Mary, Halifax; four brothers, John, Donald, both of New Glasgow; Norman, Hants; Carmen (Ivy) Dartmouth.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jim; three sons, Eddie, Gregory; John Peter, in infancy; two granddaughters, Amber, Kelly; two sisters, Ann Smith, Christina Cabello; five brothers, George, Morris, Jerome; Lawrence and Andrew, in infancy.
