Shawn Joseph Heffernan

Funeral service for the late Shawn Joseph Heffernan, 50, Antigonish, was held June 16 in C.L. Curry Funeral Home with Father Bernard MacAdam officiating. Burial was in St. Ninian Cemetery. Mr. Heffernan died June 13, 2018, in the Palliative Care Unit of St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Readers at the funeral Mass were Lauren MacDonald and Andrea Heffernan. Music was provided by Ty Wallace. Urn bearer was David Heffernan. Born in Antigonish, he was a son of Francis and Mary ‘Minnie’ (Greencorn) Heffernan. A private person, he was easygoing and enjoyed living a quiet life. He enjoyed working at St. Martha’s Hospital for close to 30 years. He was proud of his service with the Kinsmen, having filled all of their executive positions. He was a huge Montreal Canadiens fan and, in November of 2017, he fulfilled his dream of attending a game. He was knowledgeable and witty, enjoyed trivia and spending time with his nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he is survived by brother, David (Eileen), Dunmore; sister, Lisa (John) MacDonald, James River; three nieces, Andrea, Breanna, Lauren; two nephews, Andrew Brent.
