Shirley Ann Martell

Funeral service for the late Shirley Ann Martell, 66, Arichat, was held April 23 in St. Joseph’s Church, Petit de Grat, with Father Michel Exalant officiating. Burial will be in Star of the Sea Cemetery in Petit de Grat at a later date. Ms. Martell died April 16, 2019, in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born February 14, 1953, in Arichat, she was the daughter of the late George Alexander and Alvina (Boudreau) Martell. She grew up in Little Anse and from a young age she formed a close bond with her family. She dedicated her life to caring for her grandparents, Florie and Alexie Boudreau, then her Aunt Florence and Uncle Charlie. She also had a close bond with her nieces and nephews. She was a dedicated and tireless worker for her church and community. She was an active member of the Arichat CWL and the Isle Madam New Horizons Seniors Club. She enjoyed playing cards, watching her favorite soap opera, dancing, cooking and baking. She is survived by her brother, Paul (Linda) Martell, Petit de Grat; nephew and godchild, Wesley (Terra) Martell and his children, Mattie and Chase, Pomquet; niece Kimberley (Timmy Clannon) Martell and her children, Neveah and Khalley, Little Anse; nephew Courtney, Petit de Grat; step-mother, Ethel Martell and her children, Alfred (Therese) Boudreau, Wayne (Therese) Boudreau, Howard Boudreau, Karen (Robert) Roach, Andrea (Albert) Landry.
