Funeral service for the late Sophia Knight Phillips, two months, We’koqma’q First Nation, was held June 8 in Blessed Kateri Parish Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Waycobah, with Father Conrad Edwards and Deacon Berkley Guthro officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Baby Sophia died June 1, 2019, in Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck. Born March 8, 2019, in Antigonish, she was a daughter of David Phillips and Brenda Ann Googoo. Besides her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Sean Googoo, Jedidiah Phillips, both at home; paternal grandparents, Christine and Roderick Googoo, Eskasoni; maternal grandfather, Charles Michael ‘Mickey’ Googoo, We’koqma’q; maternal great-grandmother, Pearl Googoo, We’koqma’q; godparents, Andrea ‘Poopsie’ Paul and Jesse Googoo, We’koqma’q; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister, Jontay Noelle; paternal grandfather, Alfred Simon; maternal grandmother, Barbara ‘Mickey’ Googoo; maternal great-grandfather, Gabriel Googoo; maternal great-grandparents, Joe Levi and Rhoda Sylliboy; paternal great-grandparents, Joe Noel and Mary Ellen Phillips; aunt, Mellissa Dawn.
