Stephen Eugene Kaiser
Funeral service for the late Stephen Eugene Kaiser, 64, was held September 22 in St. James Anglican Church, Sherbrooke, with Reverend Kristin MacKenzie officiating. Burial was in St. James Anglican Cemetery, Sherbrooke. Mr. Kaiser died September 12, 2018. Born in 1953 in Sherbrooke, he was the eldest son of Eugene Kaiser and the late Phyllis Kaiser. He resided in Port Bickerton, Halifax and, most recently, Truro. He was thoroughly enjoying his retirement from The Halifax Chronicle Herald after a long and successful 37 year career. He started with the Herald in 1976, changing the flags on top of the office on Argyle Street. He spoke fondly of the friendships and camaraderie with his co-workers and shared countless stories of his work in the press room over the years. After retiring, he spent his days hiking, cooking, photographing, going to church, spending time with his grandchildren and travelling. Besides his father, he is survived by two daughters, Stephanie MacIntosh, Dartmouth; Samantha Demont Kaiser, Hubbards; two grandsons, Lawson, Thomas; four sisters, Susan (Bill) Sampson, Martins River; Julie (Stephen) Green, Toronto; Debra (Don) McMillan, Newmarket, Ontario; Helena, Dartmouth; brother, Russell, Dartmouth; seven nephews and nieces, Greg, Ashley, Amanda, Katie, Emily, Jenny, Erin; many cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Susan DeMont. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Online condolences: www.gwgiffin.com
