Funeral service for the late Walter Alphonse ‘Wallie’ Walker, 70, Inverness, was held October 20 in Stella Maris Church, Inverness, with Father Dan MacDonald officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Mr. Walker died October 17, 2018. Born July 10, 1948, in Inverness, he was a son of the late John Dan and Margaret Christine (Nicholson) Walker. Throughout his life, he was a well-known lobster fisherman and liked to take on many projects from welding to building homes. He enjoyed country music and was a huge fan of The Eagles. He was happiest listening to music, playing guitars and having a sing-song in his home. He loved watching the Leafs and spent many years in the rinks around the province with his children. Later in life, he took great pleasure in following his son’s horses around the Maritimes and enjoyed his many years around the track where he videotaped the races for almost 30 years. He is survived by his wife, Sandra; two daughters, Angie (Dwayne) MacDonnell, Tanya (Redmond) Doucet, both of Inverness; Walter (Kayla), Inverness; five grandchildren, Mallory, Alex Dan, Myra, Miranda, Logan; brother, Micky (Betty), Inverness; sister, Lorainne Dykes, Inverness; sister-in-law, Caroline Walker, Creignish; many in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers, Geordie, Alexander (Jean), Hugh (Florence), Jamie (Ann), Lauchie (Mary); three sisters, Isabel (Dan C.) MacNeil, Immaculata Mack (Sonny) Hartford, Rose (Raymond) MacKinnon; brother-in-law, Harry Dykes.
