Funeral service for the late Wilfred Bernard Chisholm, 79, Summerside Road, Antigonish County, was held June 13 in Immaculate Conception Church, Heatherton, with Father Andrew Gillies officiating, assisted by Father Danny MacDonald and Deacon Art Riley. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Mr. Chisholm died June 10, 2018, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Readers at the funeral Mass were Kaitlyn Kelly, Shayla Langley and Brittany Bowie. Rebecca Chisholm, Emily Chisholm and Candace Stoppa presented the offertory gifts. Eucharistic minister was Ambrose Rogers. Music was provided by Ty Wallace and Brenda Berkvens. Pallbearers were Paul Chisholm, Matthew Bowie, Hector Chisholm, Brent Boudreau, Hughie Chisholm and Devin Boudreau. Born March 27, 1939, in Antigonish, he was a son of the late William A. and Gladys (Spooner) Chisholm. Before his retirement, he worked at Heatherton Esso, Arnold Rovers Produce, Gulf Oil Refinery and, most recently, for the County of Antigonish. An avid card player, he also enjoyed a hot wood fire in the stove and spending time in his garden. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and hosting events such as pig roasts, Easter egg hunts, and picnics at Salsman Park. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Pauline (Breen); three sons, Paul (Holly), Heatherton; twins Hector (Laura), Springfield; Hughie (Susan), Afton; five daughters, Lorraine (Leo) Bowie, Heatherton; Gabriella (Shawn) Boudreau, East Tracadie; Charlene (Brian) Kelly, Summerside Road; Patricia (Craig) Pelrine, Redwater, Alberta; Angela (Craig) Langley, East Tracadie; 14 grandchildren, Hannah, Emily, Brittany, Matthew, Rebecca, Devin, Brent, Kayla, Candace, Cherise, Cheyenne, Kaitlyn, Shayla, Caley; four great-grandchildren, Deegan, Brooklyn, Maycee, Tanner; three sisters, Evelyn (Donald) Chisholm, Farm Road; Margaret Rose (Marv) Robbins, Guysborough; Jean Fisher, Calgary; sister-in-law, Theresa Chisholm, Summerside Road; brother-in-law, Ronald Pietzsche, Canso; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, John, Alexander; three sisters, Cecelia, Nancy, Veronica; sister-in-law, Jovita; three brothers-in-law, Dan J. MacDonald, Frank Pettipas, Howard Grace.
