Burial was in the parish cemetery. Mr. Durant died March 2, 2019, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Readers at the funeral Mass were Sylvia Benoit and Catherine Cameron. Kari Chisholm and Karla Chisholm presented the offertory gifts. Music was provided by Bernice, Janet and Buckie Bowman. Urn bearers were Sylvia Benoit and Jason Benoit. Born in Glace Bay, he was a son of the late Rita Margaret (Durant) Benoit. He worked as a drywaller in Halifax for many years before returning home to Pomquet in 2010. He enjoyed old cars, four-wheeling, visiting friends and having coffee at Tim Hortons. He is survived by his companion, Ruth Richard; two sisters, Sylvia Benoit (Dean Byard), Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta; Elizabeth (Wayne) MacDonald, Piedmont; brother, Robert (Charlene) Benoit, Camrose, Alta.; aunt, Jessie Durant; many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
