William Percival ‘Bill’ Adie
Burial of the late William Percival ‘Bill’ Adie, 94, West Arichat, will be held in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks, at a later date.
Mr. Adie died January 23, 2019, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
Born May 23, 1924, in Manchester, England, he was a son of the late Francis Edgar and Kathleen Adie (Downey). He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving in the Royal Navy in the Pacific Fleet. He served as a police officer with the Stockport Borough Cheshire Constabulary and the Greater Manchester police force, retiring with the rank of inspector after 25 years. He immigrated to Canada in 1974, residing in the Sydney area where he worked for the John Howard Society and as a finish carpenter for the Cabot Craft Boats. He later settled in West Arichat for the remainder of his life.
He is survived by brother, Norman Earle, Ontario.
He was predeceased by his wife of 30 years, Una Mary (Lewis); three brothers, two sisters.
