DARTMOUTH, N.S. — Sydney River's Christina Black and Team Mary-Anne Arsenault improved to 2-1 at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts provincial championship at the Dartmouth Curling Club Wednesday morning.
The Arsenault rink picked up a 13-0 victory over Mary Mattatall.
The win for the Arsenault team comes after the group suffered a 7-3 loss to Mary Myketyn-Driscoll Tuesday afternoon. The team opened the tournament Monday with a 10-7 victory over Theresa Breen.
Team Arsenault was scheduled to play the defending champion Jill Brothers rink Wednesday evening.
In the Deloitte Tankard provincial championship - the winner advancing to the Tim Hortons Brier - Brent MacDougall, originally of Sydney, remained winless after Day 2 of action at the Dartmouth venue.
MacDougall posted a pair of losses Tuesday. They were defeated 9-7 by Chad Stevens and 7-4 by Kendal Thompson. The rink opened the tournament with an 8-4 loss to Steve Thompson on Monday.
