Cape Breton hockey players off to good start at Atlantic Challenge Cup

MONCTON, N.B. — MONCTON, N.B. – Five Cape Breton hockey players are representing Nova Scotia at the Atlantic Challenge Cup this weekend in Moncton. 

The teams began the four-day tournament with a number of games on the schedule. 

In the male under-14 division, Team Nova Scotia tied Team New Brunswick 6-6.

Hudson Clarke of Port Caledonia had a goal in the contest. 

In the under-16 female division, Team Nova Scotia downed Team New Brunswick 7-2.

Samantha Morrison of Dominion had two goals and an assist, while Lauren Barrett of Glace Bay also found the back of the net. 

In the under-18 female category, Team Nova Scotia doubled Team New Brunswick 4-2.

Erin Denny of Eskasoni and Madison Corbett of Sydney both scored goals in the victory. 

The tournament will continue Saturday and Sunday, before wrapping up on Monday.
