SYDNEY, N.S. — Three Cape Breton Capers men's soccer players were honoured during the U Sports awards ceremony on Wednesday in Montreal.

Peter Schaale and Cory Bent were named to the U Sport first all-star team after having successful seasons in the Atlantic University Sport.

Schaale was named the AUS most valuable player and to the first all-star team. As for Bent, he also represented Cape Breton University as an AUS first all-star team member.

Schaale was nominated for the U Sports player of the year award, but Aboubacar Sissoko of Montreal captured the award.

Capers' Isaiah Johnston was named to the U Sports all-rookie team after completing his first season with the Cape Breton club.

Johnston, who was also named the AUS rookie of the year last week, was nominated for the U Sports rookie of the year award but Dane Domic of Mount Royal took home the top honour.

Other major award winners include Dalhousie's Gracious Kasheke (student-athlete community service award), and Carleton's Kwesi Loney (coach of the year).
