Francis, Team White defeat Team Red at CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game

Cape Breton Eagles forward had two shots on goal in the game

HAMILTON, Ont. — Cape Breton Eagles forward Ryan Francis and Team White captured the Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game on Thursday, defeating Team Red 5-3 at the FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton, Ont.

Tyson Foerster (Barrie) scored twice, while Cole Perfetti (Saginaw), Braden Schneider (Brandon) and Kaidan Guhle (Prince Albert) added single markers for Team White.

Dawson Mercer (Chicoutimi), Jack Quinn (Ottawa) and Jeremie Poirier (Saint John) replied with goals for Team Red.

Samuel Hlavaj (Sherbrooke) made 11 saves before being replaced by Dylan Garand (Kamloops), who allowed one goal on 10 shots in his 29:43 of relief. Garand was the winning goaltender for Team White.

Brock Gould (Moose Jaw) turned aside 27 of 31 shots. He played the entire game as Nico Daws (Guelph) wa scratched prior to the game with an upper-body injury.

Although Francis didn't have a point in the game, he recorded two shots on goal and won two of three faceoffs.

Foerster and Quinn were named the stars of the game.
