Clinton, Scherger lead Panthers to OT win at St. FX

ANTIGONISH, N.S. – Souris native Maria Clinton tied the game twice and set up the overtime winner Friday as the UPEI Panthers defeated the St. FX X-Women 3-2 in Atlantic University Sport hockey action.

Sydney, N.S., native Kristen MacIntyre scored the winner 55 seconds into overtime in Antigonish, N.S., while Camille Scherger made 38 saves for the victory.

Faith Steeves, Katelynn Nice and Kelly Clements had assists for the Panthers.

Brooke Noseworth and Kate Gotaas scored for the host squad with assists to Lindsey Donovan, Lacey Dimaulo and Kristen McKinley.

Cassidy McEwen stopped 20 shots in the loss.

The X-Women outshot the Panthers 14-3 in the first period while the Panthers scored on the first shot of overtime.

St. FX led 1-0 after the first period, but the game was tied 1-1 after 40 minutes. The X-Women were 0-for-2 on the power play while UPEI went 0-for-3.

The Panthers improved to 5-4-1 while the X-Women are 6-1-2.
