ANTIGONISH, N.S. — Antigonish Rural League finals continue this evening (Friday, April 12) at the Antigonish Arena with the Pleasantdale Panthers holding a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series versus the Heatherton Warriors.
The Panthers mounted a furious third period comeback last Saturday night at the arena to earn a 7-6 win and grab the series lead.
Pleasantdale’s dynamic offensive duo - Garrett Lambke and Brandon Verge – both figured prominently on the scoresheet with Lambke recording a hat-trick and adding an assist, while Verge scored twice to go along with three helpers.
Travis King added a goal and an assist wile Justin MacKay scored the other Panther marker and defenceman Brian MacDougall picked up a pair of assists.
Oliver Ross-MacDonald scored twice for the Warriors who also received a three-point night from Mike Tobin, with a goal and two assists.
Josh Robinson, Ricky Bowie and Kory Tate scored the other Heatherton goals while Alex Chisholm added two helpers.
Lambke and Verge sit one-two in the playoff scoring race with totals of 18 and 16 respectively.
Warrior line-mates Bowie and Tobin are next on the list, each with 13 points heading into game four.
Game five in the series is scheduled for April 20 while game six and seven (if necessary) will be April 21 and 27. All games are 7 p.m. puck drops at the Antigonish Arena.
