Cougars drop pair of games to Rangers, Novas in major bantam action

NORTH SYDNEY, N.S. — The Joneljim Cougars remain winless in the Nova Scotia Major Bantam Hockey League following a pair of weekend losses.

On Sunday, the Cougars were blanked 4-0 by The Novas of Antigonish at the Antigonish Arena.

Tyler Peddle scored twice, while Daniel Chiasson and Ray MacKinnon chipped in with single markers for The Novas (6-2-0-0).

Jack Milner stopped all 22 shots he faced for the shutout. Andrew Burke turned aside 42 of 46 shots in the loss for the North Sydney-based Cougars.

On Sunday, the Cougars were defeated 8-2 by The Rangers of East Hants at the Emera Centre Northside in North Sydney.

Mitch Wagner scored twice, while Devon Francis - brother of Cape Breton Eagles forward Ryan Francis - Connor Lloyd, Jacob Sanford, Sam LeDrew, Jake Todd and Gavin Ives also found the back of the net for East Hants (6-2-0-0).

Alexander Christmas and Blake Snow answered with goals for the Cougars (0-8-0-0).

Russ Decoste made 31 saves for The Rangers. Owen Bresson turned aside 30 of 38 shots for the Cougars.
