Mooseheads drop Foreurs 6-2, extend winning streak to four games

The wins are quietly piling up for the Halifax Mooseheads.
They celebrated Thanksgiving with a 6-2 victory over the Val-d'Or Foreurs in front of 6,084 fans at the Scotiabank Centre on Sunday to extend their winning streak to four games.
"We definitely brought it to them tonight," said Mooseheads forward Zack Jones. "We were on top of them the whole night, right from the puck drop. We definitely played well.
"It's our fourth win in a row and we're getting better every single day. It's really showing now."
Like they did in their three wins prior to Sunday's game, the Mooseheads came from behind. They gave up the first goal but scored three straight early in the second period to take control. The Foreurs briefly got the score to 3-2 early in the third period but Halifax pulled away with three unanswered goals.
"They were coming here after two road games and you definitely have to take advantage of that because we know that's not easy," Jones said. "We went to Quebec last week and it's not an easy thing. It was an advantage for us today but you also have to use it. We did that and jumped on them tonight."
The Mooseheads' No. 1 line also continued to set the pace. Raphael Lavoie and BO Groulx each had two goals and two assists and Maxim Trepanier chipped in one assist. They are Halifax's top three scorers and have produced 26 points during the winning streak, an average of 6.5 points per game.
"The 'Super Line,'" joked Gravel. "They're playing so great right now. They're giving points to everybody, so everybody likes them."
 Jones also kept his strong start going, scoring his fifth goal in the team's 10th game. The only Halifax player with more goals is Lavoie, who has seven.
"It's been a good start to the season," said the American rookie, who also had an assist and was the game's third star. "But it's just the start and I have to keep going every single day."
Jeff Burridge also scored for the Mooseheads and Karl Boudrias and William Provost had the Foreurs goal.
Gravel returned to the Halifax lineup after missing seven games with a foot injury. He stopped 21 shots and Val-d'Or's Jonathan Lemieux made 38 saves.
"It was nice to be back and we've been playing great defensively," Gravel said. "I mean, I only got 23 shots. If we get 23 shots every night and we don't win, I think it's on the goalie. 
"We're just playing good, simple hockey and when the guys have to bury it, they do. Our forwards are doing a really good job and we couldn't be happpier."
The win improves Halifax's record to 6-4-0-0 and Val-d'Or slips to 3-5-2-0
The Mooseheads wrap up their busy Holiday weekend with a road game on Monday afternoon against the Charlottetown Islanders (7-0-2-0). It will be their fourth game in five days.
"(Strength and conditioning coach) Chris Pierce makes sure we stay in shape and I think the boys trained really hard in the summer to be ready for the season. All that work is for weekends like this," Gravel said. "It's not an easy schedule we have right now. We didn't choose it but we play with it and we've got to play through that adversity."
Jared McIsaac (shoulder), Cole Foston (knee), Lucas Robinson (healthy scratch) and Gavin Hart (healthy scratch) did not play for Halifax.
Eagles 8, Huskies 4: In Sydney, Shawn Boudrias (two goals, one assist), Ryan Francis (one goal, two assists), Egor Sokolov (one goal, two assists) and Adam McCormick (one goal, two assists) all had three-point nights for Cape Breton.
Jarrett Baker, Liam Kidney and Ivan Ivan also scored for the Eagles (6-3-0-0) and Kevin Mandolese turned aside 31 shots.
Tyler Hinam, Olivier-Luc Hache, Vincent Marleau and Louis-Filip Cote were the scorers for Rouyn-Noranda (6-3-0-1) and Zachary Emond and Kevyn Brassard combined for 33 saves.
