Wanderers remain winless on the road

The road woes continued for HFX Wanderers FC on Saturday.
The Canadian Premier League team lost 2-0 to Cavalry FC at Spruce Meadows in Calgary to extend a season-long losing streak away from home. The closest the Wanderers have come in 13 league road games is a pair of ties.
The challenge was steep heading into the match against Cavalry, the class of the CPL in the inaugural season. The Wanderers acquitted themselves well in Calgary, only falling behind on an unfortunate bounce in the 72nd minute. 
Cavalry's Elijah Adekugbe hit a loose ball from about 25 yards out that bounced off a leg and found the corner of the Halifax net to make it 1-0. Joel Waterman added a second goal off a corner kick in injury time.
The loss snaps a streak of six straight ties for the Wanderers, who remain in last place in the Fall Competition. They are now 2-7-7 after posting a solid 3-5-2 record in the Spring Competition.
The win moves Cavalry (9-1-5) ahead of Forge FC (9-1-4) for first place, although the Calgary club has played one more game than its Winnipeg counterpart. Cavalry won the Spring Competition at 8-2-0.
The Wanderers' next game is at home on Wednesday against Pacific FC. They wrap up the Fall Competition on the road on Oct. 19 against York9 FC.
