DADE CIT, FLORIDA - Antigonish’s Bobby Dunphy posted an impressive five-under 67 round, to help his University of South Carolina Beaufort (USCB) Sand Sharks golf team capture its second consecutive Sun Conference Championship title.

Played at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club in Dade City, Florida April 30, Dunphy’s round not only led his team to the title, but also catapulted him six spots up the leaderboard and into a tie for first-place with Carl Didrik M. Fosaas of Keiser University. Unfortunately for the local golfer, Fosaas eagled the first playoff hole to claim the individual crown.

Dunphy’s round included par or better on 17 of 18 holes, which included six birdies; back-to-back birdies on holes five and six and 13 and 14.

The USCB senior finished the three-day tournament at five-under (211) with rounds of 73 and 71, before his finishing 67.

The Sand Sharks are now preparing for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Championship which will take place in Mesa, Arizona, at Las Sendas Golf Club, beginning May 21 and ending May 24.
