Eleven members of the Port Hawkesbury Antigonish Swim Team (PHAST) competed in the recent 2018 Ken Dunn Nova Scotia Provincial Championships.
PHAST was one of 25 teams from across Atlantic Canada, Quebec, Ontario and the eastern United States participated in the four-day (July 5 to 8) event at Dalplex and Long Lake in Halifax.
The more than 300 swimmers that competed had to qualify for the meet in multiple events.
“Our performances were impressive, with more than 75 per cent of the swims being best times, or in-season best times,” PHAST head coach Rob Allen said, reflecting on the Dunn meet.
“After a long 10-month season, it was a highly successful meet.”
Abby Poffenroth led the PHAST contingent with one silver (50m breaststroke) and one bronze (100m breaststroke), while racing to sixth in 50m freestyle, fourth in the 200m IM and 200m breaststroke.
