SYDNEY, N.S. — Five of six Cape Breton soccer teams claimed medals in their respective Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation provincial championships last Saturday
In Division 1 girls' action, the Riverview Reds captured the bronze medal with a 1-0 victory over Lockview in Wolfville.
Meanwhile, in Division 2 boys' action, the Breton Education Centre Bears edged Middleton 3-2 to win the bronze medal in Cambridge, N.S.
In the Division 2 girls' action, the Breton Education Centre Bears took home the silver medal, losing 4-3 to Northeast Kings Education Centre 4-3 in penalty kicks in Chester Basin.
Baddeck Academy picked up the bronze medal in Division 3 boys' action in Shelburne, while Cape Breton Highlands Academy claimed the silver medal, losing 1-0 in the championship game
to Annapolis West Education Centre.
In the Division 1 boys tournament in Sydney, the host Riverview team was defeated 3-1 by Cobequid Educational Centre in the bronze medal game. Citadel won the provincial title, beating Halifax West 2-0 in the finals.
