SYDNEY, N.S. — The Saint John Sea Dogs celebrated a milestone when they played the Cape Breton Eagles at Centre 200 on Jan. 10.

The game marked the New Brunswick-based team's 1,000th regular-season game in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Unfortunately for the Sea Dogs, the team lost the game 8-2 in front of 2,484 fans at the Sydney venue.

Saint John joined the league in 2005 as an expansion team and became the first team from Atlantic Canada to win the Memorial Cup national championship in 2011.

Since entering the league, the Sea Dogs have won three President Cup championships in 2011, 2012 and 2017. The team also attended the Memorial Cup in 2012 and 2017.
