ANTIGONISH, N.S. - There was plenty of great hockey action in Antigonish last weekend (Nov. 23 to 25) during the Leroy MacDonald Memorial Hockey Tournament, hosted the Atom ‘AA’ Bulldogs.

Unfortunately for the home side, their 2-2 round-robin record wasn’t quite enough to qualify them for the cross-over playoff round, which did see the Cape Breton West Islanders advance to take on the Halifax Hawks.

The Islanders would drop a close 3-2 decision to the Hawks while the Chebucto Atlantics downed the Pictou County in overtime Crushers, also by a 3-2.

In the final, the Atlantics defeated their HRM counterparts 6-0.

The Bulldogs began the tournament Friday afternoon with a 2-0 loss to the Islanders, but followed it up with an offensive explosion later in the day as they defeated the Northside Vikings 10-3.

Scoring for Antigonish in the contest were; Will Chisholm with three, Ben Kavanaugh and Theo Reddick with two each and singles by Duncan Anderson, Ben Brown and Brett Connors.

The Bulldogs defeated the East Hants Penguins the next morning by a score of 6-4. Goal scorers were; Reddick and Colby Fleet with two each and singles by Connors and Seth MacGillivray.

The Bulldogs would drop a 3-1 decision to the Crushers later in the day with Kavanaugh scoring Antigonish’s lone goal.
