The Town of Antigonish has put the call out for nominations for 2018 Youth Volunteer of the Year.
A notice on the town’s website speaks to the new award.
“If you are a school, community group, non-profit organization or Mi’kmaq band, you have the capacity to nominate an individual for the newly established Youth Volunteer of the Year,” the statement reads.
Qualifications listed include; a resident of the Town of Antigonish, between the ages of 13 and 24 as of Feb. 23, 2018, has “made a significant contribution across a range of causes, for at least two years,” and “are willing to be nominated.”
“We wanted to take the opportunity to recognize the youth volunteers,” town recreation director Tricia Cameron said.
“There are many of them in the area who have been volunteering for a number of years and we wanted to take the opportunity to recognize them for the work they do and, maybe, entice others to start volunteering or look at the different avenues for volunteering in the area.”
The nomination forms are found on the town’s website (www.townofantigonish.ca) under the ‘latest news’ category and are to be filled up and emailed, by Feb. 23, to Cameron at [email protected]
