Second Annapolis County man charged for his death

NEW GLASGOW, NS – A 33-year-old Annapolis County man has been charged with second degree murder after another Annapolis County man died at a hotel on Westville Road, Pictou County Sept. 7.

Jason David Bezanson was arrested Sept. 8 and has been remanded into custody. He’s scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in Pictou on Sept. 10.

New Glasgow Regional Police said in a Facebook post that on Sept. 7 at about 2:40 a.m., they were dispatched via 911 call to an unresponsive male at the Travelodge on Westville Road, New Glasgow.

“Upon arrival, officers found a 39-year-old male from Annapolis County not breathing with signs of trauma,” police said. “Emergency Health Services and New Glasgow Fire Department immediately attended and transported him to the Aberdeen Hospital with serious life threatening injuries.”

The man later succumbed to his injuries.

Police said as a result of an investigation Bezanson was arrested and subsequently charged with the other man’s murder. Police said the accused and the victim were known to each other.

New Glasgow Regional Police, New Glasgow Regional Major Crime Unit, Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit, and New Glasgow Regional Police Forensic Identification Services continue to investigate.
